MACOMB TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A tragic early-morning crash in Macomb Township has left a 16-year-old girl dead after a collision on Fairchild Road that resulted in a vehicle fire, according to authorities.
Police said the crash occurred around 1:45 a.m. north of 22 Mile Road when a disabled Chevrolet Malibu was struck by a Lincoln MKX traveling northbound. Investigators reported that several occupants were able to exit the Malibu following the impact, but the teenage girl remained trapped in the rear seat as the vehicle became engulfed in flames.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene, but despite efforts to assist, the 16-year-old did not survive the incident. Authorities have not yet released her name, pending notification of family.
Officials confirmed that the drivers involved, along with two additional passengers from the Malibu and a passenger from the Lincoln MKX, were transported to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries. The extent of their conditions has not been publicly disclosed.
