Butts County Superintendent Brent Lowe Passed Away

BUTTS COUNTY, Ga. — The Butts County community is mourning the sudden passing of Superintendent Brent Lowe, a leader remembered for his big heart, unwavering dedication, and the deep confidence he inspired in students, staff, and families across the district.
In a statement released by Board of Education Chair Kelly Strickland-King, the district announced Lowe’s death “with heavy hearts,” calling him a “beloved Superintendent” who “quickly became part of our family” after joining the community in 2022.
“Brent led our District with grace, humor, and unwavering dedication,” Strickland-King wrote on behalf of the Board. “He left all who knew him with the confidence that they had both a trusted leader and a dear friend on whom they could rely.”
Lowe was known throughout Butts County Schools as “a big presence with a big heart, who always put kids first in the work that he did.” Colleagues say he dedicated his recent years to the service of the district’s children — a legacy the community says will endure.
“He came here in 2022 and changed us,” a district staff member shared. “You always knew where you stood with Mr. Lowe, and you always knew he was in your corner. The kids came first, every single time.”
The Board of Education extended its “deepest condolences” to Lowe’s wife, Brandi, his three children, his family, and “all of those who loved him.” They also expressed confidence that “what he helped to build here in Butts County will endure.”
Since news of his passing, tributes from parents, teachers, and students have filled social media, recalling Lowe’s humor at school events, his visibility in classrooms, and his commitment to making Butts County Schools a place where every child felt seen.
