With his mother’s permission, a local family is asking for community support to help lift up Brandon, who is spending his birthday Sunday grieving the sudden death of his father, Jerry Salinas.
Jerry Salinas died Thursday in a tragic accident, leaving Brandon and his mom facing heartbreak and mounting medical bills during what should have been a week of celebration.
“Brandon’s birthday is today, and I’d love to come together as a community to make sure he feels loved and supported during such a hard week,” a family friend shared in a public post. “His mom is doing her best, but finances are tight.”
Brandon’s birthday wishlist is simple: a pair of Nike slides and a cologne, totaling about $220. Friends are also hoping to provide pizza, cake, chips, and drinks for a small gathering so Brandon can spend time with friends who care about him.
“No amount is too small,” the post read. “Let’s show Brandon that he’s surrounded by people who care and help make his birthday a little brighter despite the difficult circumstances.”
All funds are being sent directly to Brandon’s mom so she can purchase exactly what he wants. Any extra contributions will go toward Brandon’s ongoing needs, the family said. Donors are asked to add “Brandon” in the notes.
Community members who wish to help with food, gifts, or donations are encouraged to reach out through the contact shared by the family.
“Thank you all for your kindness, prayers, and support,” the family’s message concluded.
