Iman Khawane, 31, Killed in Downtown Apartment Shooting; Man Charged With Second-Degree Murder

TORONTO, Ontario — Family members, friends, and the Toronto community are mourning the tragic death of 31-year-old Iman Khawane, who was fatally shot inside a downtown apartment near Jarvis Street and Dundas Street East on June 20.

Toronto police say officers responded to the scene at approximately 9:30 a.m. after receiving reports of a shooting inside the residence. When emergency crews arrived, they found Khawane suffering from a gunshot wound. She was transported to hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

Authorities have identified the accused as 25-year-old Jaden Riley of New Tecumseth, who has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with her death. Police confirmed that the victim and the accused were known to each other.
