WEST TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — Family members, friends, classmates, and community members are mourning the heartbreaking passing of Isabella “Izzy” Thomas, age 6, of West Terre Haute, who died on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at her residence following a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on November 30, 2019 in Terre Haute to Shawn Thomas and Megan Cagle, Izzy brought joy and energy into the lives of those around her from an early age. Despite her young age, she was known for her bright personality, love for people, and her ability to connect with others in a warm and genuine way.

Izzy attended Sugar Creek Consolidated Elementary School and was also part of the West Side Christian Church community. She is remembered as a social and spirited child who loved being around others, enjoyed swimming, and showed a joyful competitive spirit in everything she did. Above all, her family shares that she deeply loved Jesus.

Those closest to Izzy describe her as a loving daughter, sister, and friend whose presence brought light into every room she entered. Her laughter, energy, and affectionate nature left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

Izzy is survived by her parents, Shawn Thomas and Megan Cagle; her “Mimi,” Helen Elkins, who helped raise her; her brothers Mason Elliott and Matt Elliott; and her sister Kendra McConnell. She is also survived by her best friends Tracy Bays and Kari Beattie, as well as a close family friend, “Miss” Jan Bowman, who was like a grandmother to her.

She was preceded in death by her grandmother Rose Thomas and great-grandmother Patricia Fields.

Funeral services will be held at West Side Christian Church, 126 North 8th St., West Terre Haute, Indiana, on Thursday, June 25, 2026 at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor Chris Wilbur officiating. Burial will follow at Bethesda Cemetery. Visitation will take place the same day from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to West Side Christian Church in Izzy’s memory.

Isabella “Izzy” Thomas will be deeply missed, forever loved, and lovingly remembered by all who were touched by her short but meaningful life.
