MADISON COUNTY, Ala. — A 27-year-old Madison woman was killed early Saturday when the car she was riding in was struck by an on-duty Madison County Sheriff’s Office patrol SUV responding to a call, according to Alabama State Troopers.

The deputy, whose name has not been released, was actively responding to a call for service with the SUV’s emergency lights and siren activated at the time of the crash. An intern was also in the deputy’s patrol vehicle.

The crash remains under investigation by Alabama State Troopers. No charges have been announced.
