Birmingham Family Mourns Justin Lamar Chism, 35, Killed in Friday Night Motorcycle Crash on I-59

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Family and friends are mourning the death of a 35-year-old motorcyclist killed in a weekend crash with another vehicle in Birmingham.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Justin Lamar Chism. He lived in Birmingham.
The wreck happened at 8:41 p.m. Friday on Interstate 59 northbound near 20th Street Ensley, according to officials.
Chism was transported to UAB Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 9:12 p.m.
Loved ones gathered Sunday to remember Chism, sharing stories, photos, and prayers as they grapple with the sudden loss.
“He was a good soul with a big heart,” a family member said. “Justin loved riding, loved his people, and he’s gone too soon.”
Birmingham Police are investigating the circumstances of the crash. No additional details about the other vehicle or what led to the collision have been released.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office said the investigation remains active.
