Macomb Township Car Crash Leaves 16-Year-Old Girl Dead After Vehicle Catches Fire on Fairchild Road

A Saturday afternoon crash in Tuscaloosa County claimed the life of a McCalla man and left a child injured, according to authorities.
The fatal wreck occurred at approximately 2:51 p.m. on Eastern Valley Road near Foster Road and involved a motorcycle and two vehicles.
Authorities identified the victim as 66-year-old Jeffrey T. Hunter of McCalla. Investigators said Hunter was riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle when it collided with a Honda Civic driven by 21-year-old Michel Yahir Lopez Prudoth of Florida.
The impact caused Hunter to be thrown from the motorcycle. Authorities said he was then struck by a Chevrolet Silverado driven by 67-year-old Carl J. Barlett of McCalla.
Hunter suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
An 8-year-old passenger riding in the Chevrolet Silverado was also injured in the crash. Officials said the child was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision and was transported to a hospital for treatment. The extent of the child’s injuries has not been released.
The tragic crash has left family members and loved ones mourning the loss of Hunter, while authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.
