HEREFORD, Texas — Family, friends, and members of the Dimmit and Deaf Smith County communities are mourning the tragic loss of Gilbert Olivarez, who died Thursday morning following a fatal rear-end crash on U.S. Highway 385 north of Hereford.
According to preliminary reports, the crash occurred on June 12, 2026, along U.S. 385. Authorities say Olivarez was killed when the vehicle he was in was struck in a rear-end collision. Emergency crews responded to the scene, but he was pronounced dead from injuries sustained in the crash.
