CALDWELL, Idaho — A 35-year-old Caldwell father, Mike Vasquez, was killed and his three young sons injured Monday in a crash that Idaho State Police say involved an impaired driver who admitted to livestreaming on TikTok at the time of the collision.
The driver has been identified in court documents as Nixon Amilcar Ixcoy Lix. According to official Idaho State Police reports, Ixcoy Lix told troopers at the scene that he was actively livestreaming on TikTok when he ran a stop sign. He told officers he could not locate the saved video on his phone afterward.
Investigators reported finding two cans of Modelo beer in Ixcoy Lix’s truck, one of which was open. According to the police report, Ixcoy Lix registered breathalyzer results of 0.093 and 0.06. The responding trooper documented glassy, bloodshot eyes and the odor of alcohol.
Mike Vasquez, a husband and father, died as a result of the crash. His three sons were injured and transported for medical treatment. His wife, Jacky Vasquez, and their boys are now facing the aftermath of the loss.
On June 9, 2026, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) confirmed it lodged an immigration detainer against Ixcoy Lix at the Canyon County Jail, stating he is a Guatemalan national who is in the country without legal status.
Ixcoy Lix is in custody at Canyon County Jail. Charges are pending. The case remains under investigation by Idaho State Police and the Canyon County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
The crash has sparked renewed debate in the community about impaired driving, distracted driving, and immigration enforcement.
Mike Vasquez is remembered by friends and family as a devoted husband and father. Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.
